What is Bulls and Cows?
Bulls and Cows (also known as Number Baseball in Korea) is a classic code-breaking game. The computer picks a secret number with N unique digits, and you try to guess it.
After each guess, you get Strike and Ball feedback. A Strike means the right digit in the right position. A Ball means the right digit but in the wrong position. Out means no matching digits at all.

FAQ
What's the difference between Strike and Ball?
Strike = right digit, right position. Ball = right digit, wrong position. For example, if the secret is 1234 and you guess 1325: 1 is a Strike (position 1), 2 is a Ball (exists but wrong spot).
Can digits repeat in the secret number?
No. The secret number always has unique (non-repeating) digits, and your guesses must also have unique digits.
Can the first digit be 0?
Yes! The secret number and your guesses can start with 0.
How many guesses does it take to solve?
With optimal strategy, a 4-digit game can be solved within 7 guesses on average. Expert players often solve it in 5.
Is this the same as Number Baseball?
Yes. Number Baseball (숫자 야구) is the Korean name for Bulls and Cows. The rules are identical.
